The Redwood used in this piece was from a house that was built in Lompoc, California around 1910. You can still see the stains from the original nails that were used in the house’s construction. The house was being remodeled and the original redwood was being discarded. The house is on Ocean Avenue across from the Police Station. Most of the houses in that era were built using the redwood. The redwood was brought down from Northern California by boat. It was dumped in the ocean & dragged up the river to town for use. The dark line on this piece is a stain from a nail that was used to build the house.
