Each of our lovely wood hair clips is individually handcrafted.
I choose the wood I use by studying color, texture, grain and
personality. There are several different woods to choose from
for your wood hair clip so there is sure to be one that will match
your hair's personality.
Each of the hair clips is individually cut out, boiled, soaked, and
clamped to a wooden molding board that I turned on my lathe.
Then the hair clip is kept moist and allowed to slowly dry out to
prevent cracking. A metal French hair clip is attached to the
back to accommodate all types of hair. The process takes
approximately 2 weeks to create a hair clip. Thus creating
gorgeous wood art for your hair!
The items below are the last items I have in stock. I will no
longer be making hair clips. While I enjoy making the hair
clips, I enjoy working on my lathe and will be focusing more on
projects that I can create on my lathe.

The oak in this hair clip is a gorgeous
honey golden color. The grain in it is outstanding and
prominent as you can see in the above picture.
The piece of oak wood used in this
handcrafted oak hair clip was procured at a lovely little wood
shop owned by a man in Lompoc, California. Upon his
retirement he informed me I could come help him to reduce his
inventory, of course I rushed right over to find the treasures
that await me. So this piece of oak instead of being
made into kitchen cabinets has found new life as a gorgeous
work of art for your hair.

The workmen here in our small town of Lompoc, California were
trimming the gorgeous Elm trees on South U Street. I
happened by just in time to save one last piece from the
chipper shredder. The grain looks almost like water
ripples and gives this Elm hair clip lovely visual movement.
It was rescued from the belly of an evil chipper shredder and
has the courage to tame your tangled mane.

The gorgeously grained wood used in this hair clip is
Hawaiian curly Koa wood. On my recent annual trek to
Hawaii, I found the most gorgeous curly grained Koa wood.
Curly grained Koa is a rare find and is getting more rare each
year we travel on our yearly wood turning adventure. I
couldn't pass up this gorgeous wood. It came home safely
packed in my suit case.
This curly Hawaiian Koa wood hair clip measures approximately
4" long by 1 1/4" wide.
The picture above is a sample. Your Koa wood hair clip will be
completely unique, just like you!

The wood used in this beautiful Redwood Burl hair clip is from
Oakland or Occidental, California.
While visiting a wood symposium in Pasadena, California I ran
into him while he was selling his salvaged treasures. He has
collected wood from Oakland and Occidental, California.
Because I love to find things that have been rescued I had to
have a redwood burl from him. So this lovely hair clip has
been rescued from sure doom, mold and rot to hold your keep
your precious locks from getting tangled.

The beautifully colored wood in this hair
clip is exotic Purple Heart wood. The longer you leave it in
the sun, the more purple it gets.
The Purple Heart wood used in this piece was bought from a
wonderful specialty wood shop in Sacramento, California.
Purple Heart wood grows in the Amazon Rainforest.
The neat trick is that the more it is in
the sun, the more purple it becomes. So as it tames your
lovely locks, it is also developing a lovely deep purple
color.

The beautifully striated wood used to
create this hair clip is Olive Wood.
My son-in-law's dad knows I am a wood fanatic. He had a
neighbor who was trimming trees and making a firewood pile to
share with his neighbors. He took a bundle of trimmings and
logs for his fire to keep his house warm during the cold
Sacramento winters. He brought home his bundle and gave me a
call. The next time I visited Sacramento, CA I perused the
firewood pile and rescued the several pieces from certain
incineration. The olive wood used to create this hair clip
came eye to eye with a fiery furnace and has instead found new
life as a beautiful decoration for your lovely locks.
