Wood Vases - Wood Bowls
I take
great care to find the perfect piece of wood to create a wood vase
or wood bowl. I look for the most intricate and interesting
grain and sometimes I find amazing wood burls and wood with the
bark still attached for really amazing and beautiful wood vases.
My wood vases come in several different styles utilizing the woods
I have found to be interesting.
Some of
our wood vases are equipped with "frogs". Flower frogs are
small metal "cups" with metal spikes in the bottom to hold cut
flowers in place. They hold water to ensure your bouquet will
last. I also offer wood vases that have a glass beaker style
water container. Our third type of wood vase is created using
only wood and is not water tight. These wood vases are
recommended for dried flowers, silk flowers or even pencils.
Our wood bowls are perfect simply as a centerpiece and works well as
a holder for: potpourri, keys, change, silk flowers,
odds-n-ends.

This lovely redwood burl wood vase is the perfect height to hold
dried flowers or pencils. It has lovely grain and detail.
This redwood burl has been around for a long time. A
gentleman in Occidental, California (by Bodega Bay) looks for
old trees that have been cut down or have fallen down. He
then finds the burliest, funkiest roughest looking stumps and
digs them up and cleans them off.
While visiting a wood symposium in Pasadena, California I ran
into him while he was selling his salvaged treasures.
Because I love to find things that have been rescued I had to
have a redwood burl from him. So this little vase has been
rescued from sure doom, mold and rot to hold your trinkets.
I only wish I could have lived where this redwood tree grew.
Occidental, California is a wonderful town by the beach.
It houses gorgeous lush green landscapes and a homey relaxed
feel. This redwood burl wood vase can bring some of its
peace and tranquility from it laid back ocean lifestyle to your
home or office.
It measures approximately 4" tall by 2 1/4" wide.

*Please note that due to the popularity of this particularly
redwood burl piece, I have a very limited supply of this redwood
burl left in stock to create this piece. I am currently
searching for other redwood burl to create this lovely wood
vase, but it most likely will not be from Occidental,
California. |

This beautiful and interesting Oregon western maple burl wood
vase is created using a lovely Western Maple Burl wood. My
daughter and her husband live in Oregon, home of the paper
mill. Well...we met a gentleman who worked at one of the many
paper mills that are scattered around the state of Oregon. He
would meticulously go through the wood that came in each day and
save the burls and other lovely pieces of wood from a fiery,
mulchy, pulpy death. So this gorgeous and interesting vase
could have been a piece of writing paper but instead were
recycled into this gorgeous piece for your home or office.
Because burls are so intricate and unique, each piece will be
different from the next, so the picture you see is just one
example of an Oregon Maple Burl Wood Vase.
It measures approximately 4" tall by 2 1/4" wide.

The
Chinese Elm wood used in this piece was a trimming from a tree
on South U Street in Lompoc, California. My daughter and her
boys were driving through town one day and saw some tree
trimmers. She quickly rushed home to inform me of the "gold"
that lay waiting. As I approached the workers they were quickly
feeding this amazing golden Chinese Elm wood into the chipper
shredder to become mulch. I quickly parked and asked if I could
scavenge a few pieces from their trimmings pile. They happily
granted my request. So the little piece of wood was saved from
pending doom to create this wood heart vase just for you.
A small glass tube has been inserted in the top of the vase to
hold cut of dried flowers.
It
measures approximately 5" across by 4 1/2" tall.

While attending a craft fair with my daughter and her family in
Cambria, California we stumbled upon a "junk shop". If you
know me at all, you know I'm absolutely drawn to junk stores
just waiting to uncover a lost treasure. I found a
gorgeous, but beat up butcher block that used to be a butcher
block cutting table. I brought it home and cleaned it up
with care. This lovely and sturdy butcher block wood vase
is one of the items I made out of that great butcher block table
saving that gorgeous butcher block chunk from sitting lonely and
collecting dust for years to come in the little old junk shop!
The
vase has a metal "frog" in it with metal spikes to hold flowers
in place. It also holds water to keep your arrangement
looking fresh. The metal frog is removable for easy
cleaning and care.
As
they say..."One man's trash is another man's treasure." I
think this butcher block wood vase has proven to be a lovely
treasure.
